Alvin opened his studio in 1978 and is now acknowledged nationwide for his photographic skill and excellence. Over the years he has achieved national recognition as a Master Photographer and Photographic Craftsman. Alvin has served on the Board of Directors of the Texas Professional Photographers Association and as president of the Professional Photographers Guild of Houston. He was named Photographer of the Year for four consecutive years by that organization.
In 1992 Alvin was received into the Cameracraftsmen of America, an elite organization comprised of 40 of North America's finest photographers. He is a popular teacher and lecturer among his peers in the U.S. and Canada, and has been featured as the premier photographer in several books and publications. Alvin has twice won the Kodak Gallery Award and has been honored by having his work selected for the Professional Photographers of America's prestigious Loan Collection. His most recent accomplishments include receiving the "Best Portrait of a Bride by a Master" award at the 1997 Texas Professional Photographers Association Convention, speaking at the PPA National Convention in Tuscon, Arizona, and having his "Princess Bride" portrait selected for the national PPA Loan Collection for 1997. In January 2006 at the PPA National Imaging Conference, Alvin spoke to over 400 professional photographers to share his award winning techniques.
Alvin is married with two children and is serving as deacon and Sunday School teacher at Chinese Baptist Church in Houston, Texas.
